Yaletown is one of the four main water bodies bordering Vancouver; it is a small inlet in the heart of Vancouver.

In the 1980’s Yaletown was an industrial area filled with sawmills and factories. In 1986 Yaletown was transformed for Expo 86, after Expo Yaletown like many other areas in Vancouver was sold to private developers for either industrial or residential developments. Yaletown received an official development plan in 1991. The plan was for developments along the North Shore including: housing, parks, schools, restaurants and shops.

Today Yaletown is one of the largest developments in North America. There are approximately 10,500 people living within Yaletown with the average age being between 30-41 years old and average income is approximately $110, 648.

With this large development has come a large range in housing and residence. Real estate along the waterfront of Yaletown is dramatically different from the real estate found in Chinatown. Residential homes in False creek include: heritage buildings, renovated high rise apartment buildings, un-renovated high rise apartment buildings and detached homes. The new building trend in Yaletown is pushing towards modern high rise living, taking advantage of the views of English bay and the inlet.

Yaletown could be considered the entertainment center for Vancouver. Concerts, hockey games, football games and soon arrive Vancouver Whitecap soccer games all take place within Yaletownat Rogers Arena or at the newly renovated BC Place.

Other attractions in Yaletown include Edgewater Casino, Telus World of Science and the Plaza of Nations.
